1. Information about cookies
A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers stored on to your browser when you access certain websites. Cookies allow a website to recognise a user’s preferences as previously chosen by the user when they return to a site. A cookie itself does not contain or collect information. However, when it is read by a server in conjunction with a web browser it can help a website deliver a more user-friendly service for example, remembering previous account details.
Cookies are filed in the memory of your browser and each one typically contains: (i) the name of the server the cookie was sent from; (ii) the lifetime of the cookie; and (iii) a value (usually a randomly generated unique number).
The website server sends the cookies user number to recognise you when you return to a site or browse from page to page. Only the server that sent a cookie can read, and therefore use, that cookie. Cookies are central to the customisation of the Internet.
All the major browsers allow you to block cookies and delete those that have already been created on your computer, usually within the ‘Tools’ section of the browser. These tools allow you to specify which cookies you will accept by type and often by specific websites using an exception list e.g. you can block all cookies and then list the website from which you will accept cookies. There is also a wide choice of browser add-ins that you can install if you wish greater control over persistent cookies.
2. Cookies used by Us
We use a technology called “cookies” as part of a normal business procedure. Cookies are small text files that are created by a web server and stored on your computer when you visit a website. They don’t do anything i.e. they are not executable code and can only be read by (you and) the website that created them. You can view and edit the cookies on your computer like any other text file using a text editor (the contents are usually just strings of unique identifiers and date/timestamps). The website that created the cookie can read the contents when you are at their website.
By continuing to use the Citi Logik website you are deemed to consent to the installation of cookies for the purposes explained above. If you decide to refuse Citi Logik’s cookies, you may change your browser and Adobe Flash Player settings at any time to block cookies.
